Some thought they were foolish to pour that kind of money into a dying neighborhood and everybody wondered just what Judy and Ronnie Boone were building, but they weren’t telling.
The Boones were sworn to secrecy because Judy was still working at another real estate firm. Although she’d given her broker 10 months notice, she’d promised not to say anything until the last minute. It was an early example of the integrity she would make a hallmark of Judy Boone Realty.
But the Boones’ silence precipitated some comic stories that Judy recounts with relish today. People made assumptions about the building’s purpose. "We had tourists inquiring about rooms because they thought it was a bed and breakfast. One man, convinced it was a restaurant, came in to order clam chowder."
